Benton Duane Jones' Obituary
Benton Duane Jones, 64 entered into Heaven on Sunday morning Nov 8, 2020 at the Wheeler Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Duane was born in Forrest City, Arkansas on July 5, 1956 to Loren and Dorothy Moore Jones. Later his family moved to New Mexico and then Texas where Duane attended school. Later, after he graduated from high school in Vega, TX, he lived with or close to his parents for many years before settling in Shamrock. He later met his wife Joyce and they married on October 25, 1999. They resided in Shamrock until his health declined and he moved into the nursing home in Wheeler. Joyce continued to live in their home. She passed away December 30, 2017. Duane had many interests growing up. He loved trains, watching and mimicking being a weather man when he was a kid. He enjoyed being a bee keeper and was a business partner with his dad for many years. He did other various jobs during his life in Shamrock mowing yards and dishwashing at restaurants. Duane loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed playing board games and dominos with his new friends he made at the nursing home.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents Loren and Dorothy Jones, and his youngest sister, Rita, his nephews David Pace, and Joey Pace and his great nephew, Noah Pace.
Duane is survived by sisters, Patty Blankenship and her husband Bob of Bartlesville, Ok, Dixie Pace and her husband, Roger of Shamrock, TX. His nieces, Brenna Hunter and her husband Todd, Kristi Slocum of Amarillo, TX and her children, Kristin Slocum, Matt Slocum and Cody Slocum, and Shawndra Hanes. His nephews, Michael Pace of Altus, Oklahoma, Robert Horton and his wife Jennifer and their daughter, Bailey Horton of Colorado Springs, Colo. He is also survived by his great nephews Jeremy Pace (fiancé Chelsea and family), Jacob Pace, Gavin Pace and Gabriel Pace.
We want to extend our thanks and gratitude to Wheeler Nursing Home that took great care of our beloved brother during his illness.
