Beatrice Joyce Ford Perkins' Obituary
Beatrice “Joyce” Ford Perkins, 85, of Wheeler, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019, in Wheeler, Texas.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Cornerstone Church, with Rev. Rodney Weatherly and Pastor Erron Mercer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, TX.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2019, from 7pm-9pm, at the Townsquare Inn, in Wheeler, TX.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Joyce was born in Borger, TX, to Claude and Elsie Cox. She lived in Wheeler for the majority of her life where she was a wife to K.D. Ford, where they raised their 6 children. Later on, she wed Foy Perkins in 1995. She taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church for many years while raising her children. Joyce later became a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ and cherished both of her church families dearly. She was also a part of the Red Hat Society and a Canasta Ladies Group. Her cookie jar was always full, leading her to be nicknamed the “Cookie Queen” by friends and family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, K.D. Ford and then also her second husband Foy Perkins; her parents, Claude and Elsie; and one brother, Marvin Cox.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Dewayne Ford and wife Debbie, of Canadian, TX, and Robert Ford and wife Marla, of Wheeler, TX; 1 step-son, Butch Perkins and wife Tricia, of Odessa, TX.; 4 daughters, Gallena Scrivner and husband Jesse, of Amarillo, TX, Becky Shirley and husband Warren, of Caldwell, TX, Tina Deger and husband David, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Teri Seitz and husband Dave, of Wylie, TX.; one step-daughter, Bertha Berry and husband David, of Greenwood, TX.; two brothers, Claude Cox, Jr. and wife Frieda, of Blanket, TX., and James Cox and wife Phyllis, of Lubbock, TX. ; one sister, Jeraldine Pride and husband Sonny, of Arlington, TX; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of Flowers that donations be made to Wheeler Cemetery Association, PO Box 672, Wheeler, TX, 79096, or the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 711, Wheeler, TX, 79096.
