Barbara Mitchell Meadows' Obituary
Barbara Mitchell Meadows, 88, of Briscoe, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Wheeler, Texas.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 22, 2026, at Cornerstone Church in Wheeler with Erron Mercer and Bret Begert officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler.
Viewing will be held Thursday at Robertson Funeral Directors in Wheeler, with the family receiving friends for visitation from 5:00–7:00 PM.
Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Barbara was born September 18, 1937, in Goodlett, Texas, to Columbus Douglas and Essie Mae Powell Mitchell. She married Allen Elvin Meadows on June 26, 1956, in Wheeler, Texas. She spent most of her life in Wheeler County and was deeply involved in her community. Barbara proudly served as the first woman on the Briscoe School Board and was also a board member of the American Salers Association and the Top O’ Texas CattleWomen.
Barbara loved traveling all over the world, though her favorite destination was Las Vegas, where she especially enjoyed visiting casinos. She treasured time spent with her family and friends and leaves behind many cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Elvin Meadows, on June 19, 2019; seven brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Meadows and wife Rolanda and Mark Meadows and wife Mandy, all of Briscoe; her daughter, Brenda Wood and husband Ernie of Colorado City; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to Parkview Assisted Living Center in Wheeler.
