Eighty-nine years too soon. My Aunt Anne was an independent mind, a kindred spirit, and a class act.
She was quick to challenge us in our thinking while I was growing up – she had a reason for why she thought one thing or another and would lovingly challenge us to do the same! She was also quite the quick wit.
Later in life, when I moved across the country, I remember fondly many exchanges with her via email and on the old family.com web site. I also enjoyed several colorful letters to the editor about current affairs she authored at the time! That’s when our kindred spirits really blossomed.
She was a tireless historian-in-residence for our Texas wing of the Chappell family culminating in a book detailing our genealogy – a true labor of love – and was very active in her local community.
She represented a lot of what was great about the greatest generation and left us at the age of eighty-nine. Eighty-nine years too soon.
Rest in peace, Aunt Anne. You will be missed.
All our love to the beautiful family she leaves behind. May we all hold her memory dear in our hearts forever.
