Alton Leon Goodin's Obituary
Alton Leon Goodin, formerly of Claude, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 17th, 2019.
Memorial graveside services with U.S. Army honors will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 in Claude Cemetery in Claude.
Local arrangements are by Robertson Claude Chapel.
Alton was born to John Henry Goodin and Pearl Montgomery Goodin December 3rd, 1927, in Earth, Texas. He had three sisters and four brothers. He graduated from Amherst, Texas High School and joined the Army early in 1946, serving in World War II as a surgical technician. After discharge, he returned to Amherst where he and his brothers built their Mom a brand new house. Alton then went to West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. He met Edna Marie Jordan in his Psychology Class, and they were married in July of 1950. The couple had three daughters...Rhonda Killian of Owasso, Oklahoma, Debi Blackwell (husband Dan) of Divide, Colorado, and Sandra Meek of Dallas, Texas.
Alton Goodin spent 34 years in education after finishing college. He was a teacher, coach, bus driver, and finally high school Principal in Claude, Texas. He became an artist late in life after retiring from Claude High School. He was very proud of his paintings, and won numerous awards. He was also the Mayor of Claude, and active in the Methodist Church there.
Alton was preceded in death by both parents and all seven siblings, plus the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Edna. He is survived by the three daughters, five grand children: Lee Killian and wife Sabrina of Kansas City, Kansas; Tamika Killian Crissup and husband Jake of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Opie Blackwell and husband Jason of Atlanta, Georgia; Jordan Meek and fiancé Landon Reilly of Cypress, Texas; and Mason Meek of Dallas, Texas.
Owl,as he was called by the grands and the greats, also had three great grandchildren: Magnolia Mae Crissup, Jonah Ray Crissup, and Adrienne Marie Blackwell.
