Kay Miller started with Integra-Peak Management on May 4, 2004, shortly after the opening of Brownwood Retirement Village. From that day until her retirement on March 24, 2020, Kay was the face of Brownwood Retirement Village, making it her own home, its residents her family, and its community room her playground.
Kay always had a passion for what she did, an infectious energy and love for life that brightened the day of all of us who had the pleasure of working with her, dining with her, and sharing good times with her as we did on an annual basis every summer when all the fellow apartment managers of Integra-Peak management and other rural apartment managers across the state would get together for three days of training, camaraderie, and laughter.
At these events and others, Kay Miller was a shining example we would point to as a manager who took complete ownership of her property. She took it as a challenge to fill any vacancies that came up as soon as humanly able, excitedly bringing on new residents to the Retirement Village, and pushing, prodding, and helping her longtime maintenance tech Jerry Spearman, cleaning units as needed to finish up these apartment homes to her high standards.
Kay was notorious for always turning in more units than in five days or less from move out to move in than any other manager in the company, which is a top-level achievement in apartment management.
Kay is one of the few managers ever recognized two times as Integra-Peak Manager of the Year, in 2005 in Fort Worth, and then again in 2012 on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We were able to recognize her accomplishments one more time at our company event in 2019 in Waco, where she was given an award for 15 years of excellent service, not only to our company but to the city of Brownwood, and to the residents she served so passionately. - Michael Chamy, President, and the rest of the team at Integra-Peak Management, her employer & friend for 15 years
