Alice was born on May 30, 1946, in Stamford, TX, to Santos and Jacinta (Lopez) Salinas. She married Alejandro Flores and they had seven children together. In 1974, they moved to Memphis and raised their family in the community. Alice was a housekeeper at Western Motel in Memphis. She also worked many years in Cousins Home Convalescent Center. She was a devout Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis.
Alice was known around town as “ticket lady”. She loved to play the lottery and had a lot of luck with scratch off tickets. She also loved wrestling. Three nights a week she could be found on her couch watching WWE and other wrestling matches with her son. Alice could never be counted out of any situation. Though she was small in stature, she was known for being a little firecracker with lots of tenacity and spirit within her, so much so that she acquired the nickname “Rocky”.
Above all, Alice was a deeply rooted family woman. She showed her love by cooking for her family. She was very close to her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them all.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alejandro Flores; and she went to be with the Lord alongside her daughter, Yolanda Castillo.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Victor Flores, Alex Flores, Frankie Flores and wife Debbie, and Michael Flores; 2 daughters, Emma Vaquera, and Cindy Castillo and husband Lalo; 2 brothers, Bailey Salinas and Roy Salinas; 2 sisters, Elidia Garcia and Esperanza Lara; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
