William was an outstanding addition to Memphis High School’s Senior Class of 1966. He shared his talents with us that year and continued to entertain every reunion he could fit into his schedule. We followed his musical career enthusiastically and ordered tapes and CDs of any of his recordings. He was good to promote his hometown and always seemed glad to greet old classmates. He was one of the reasons that “we’re the class that really ticks, Senior Class of ‘66.” Amy Hillhouse Godfrey
My “PawPaw” as my children would say! I meet William when I was a little girl. I had no idea I’d one day be his daughter in law or the mother to his grand kids, Ronald McFalls Jr and Monesheia McFalls or his great grandchildren.. Ethan and Arriya. William was a great father, grandfather and man. I can truly say he had such a positive influence and presence in our lives. Whether he was teaching Monesheia how to curtsy when she wanted to be a ballerina at age 5 to teach Lil Keith how to play the harmonica or teach my son Nathaniel to play the guitar! He was always full of love and we loved him in return❤️ William was present at everything we deemed important. He listened … He loved us unconditionally. He will greatly be missed. I promise to tell your great grandchildren everything about you especially how much you loved us❤️ love you Paw paw!! Job well done !! Now rest in perfect peace❤️
I had the opportunity to compete against William (High school--Childress vs Memphis) in track in 1965 and 1966, He was an excellent athlete. I also had opportunity to attend his concerts, He was a true talent and a humble person. Rest is peace brother.

I played music with William on several occasions in Amarillo. They were all wonderful experiences! He was a tremendous musician with great stage presence and powerful voice. I still think of some of the insightful things he said about the Blues.
