Virgie took care of us when we were kids in Amarillo in the late 60s. She worked hard and was always kind. She once patiently sat with me and held a hammer when I was scared that some imaginary person was trying to get me. She was also a terrific cook!
My favorite times with Virgie was when "As The World Turns" came on each day. She could expertly iron mounds of clothing while watching the show and continuously filling me in on the background of all of the characters. I was hooked for years after that!
It was providence that I saw the notice in the paper of her death. I had lost track of Virgie before I was even in high school. My condolences to your family. I will always remember her fondly.
