About Us

Celebrating life since 1977
As a proud member of the The Panhandle community since 1977, we're honored to help families celebrate their loved ones. We pledge to ensure that every funeral and memorial service is deeply personal, fostering healing and remembrance.
The Robertson Difference
Hear directly from Chuck Robertson, owner of Robertson Funeral Directors, as he shares what makes our funeral home unique. From our compassionate team to our deep commitment to the families we serve, these videos offer a personal look at our values, our service, and what sets us apart.

Why we're different
At Robertson Funeral Directors, we break the stereotype of funeral home workers. Our team isn’t distant or impersonal—we are real people with genuine compassion, deeply connected to the families we serve. In our small-town communities, we know many of the families personally, making every service we provide even more meaningful. But even when we don’t know a family, we still approach each service with the same heartfelt care and respect. This commitment to truly serving others with kindness and empathy is what sets us apart.

Family Owned and Operated
At Robertson Funeral Directors, we take pride in offering personalized, small-town service where every family is treated with care and compassion. Unlike larger city funeral homes where people can feel like just a number, we ensure that every family receives one-on-one attention and the heartfelt support they deserve. Our team is dedicated to providing genuine, compassionate service, making a difficult time a little easier by truly connecting with and caring for the families we serve.

Staff
At Robertson Funeral Directors, our team is our greatest strength. Owner Chuck Robertson shares his deep appreciation for his staff, highlighting their unwavering compassion and commitment to every family they serve. No matter who is assisting, families can trust they will receive the same level of care, respect, and personal attention. Every person who walks through our doors is more than just a client—they are family, friends, and neighbors, and that’s a value we will uphold for as long as we serve our community.
A Legacy of Service and Care
The History of Robertson Funeral Directors
From our beginnings in Clarendon to our growth across six Texas communities, our history is a story of care, commitment, and family.
The Panhandle's First Funeral Home
In 1899, P.A. Buntin established the first funeral home in the Texas Panhandle, originally known as Buntin Funeral Home. A legacy of service began here, passing from P.A. to his son, Fred, in 1919.
Changing Hands and Names
Through partnerships and changes, the funeral home became Murphy-Spicer Funeral Home by 1946, serving Clarendon, Memphis, Groom, and Hedley. The Buntin name dissolved in 1948, marking a new chapter.
A Legacy in the Spotlight
Our funeral home served historical figures like Mrs. Mary Goodnight and Col. Charles Goodnight. It even appeared in the classic film Hud, showcasing our hearse in scenes filmed in Claude.
The Robertson Family Joins the Story
In 1973, Delbert Robertson opened Clarendon Funeral Home and later partnered with Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. By 1977, Delbert and his son Patrick acquired full ownership, renaming it Robertson Funeral Directors.
Expanding to Claude
In 1998, Robertson Funeral Directors opened a new location in Claude, bringing compassionate service to this neighboring community.
Expanding to Memphis
In 2009, the Robertson family expanded to Memphis, opening a new location to better serve families in the area.
Expanding to McLean
In January 2009, Robertson Funeral Directors continued its growth by opening a location in McLean, providing trusted care to more families.
Expanding to Shamrock
In August 2011, Shamrock became the next community served by Robertson Funeral Directors, continuing our tradition of compassionate care.
Expanding to Wheeler
In August 2017, Wheeler joined the Robertson Funeral Directors family, marking our most recent expansion to serve the Texas Panhandle.
Three Generations of Care
In 2003, Chuck Robertson joined the firm, continuing the family tradition started by his grandfather Delbert. Today, Robertson Funeral Directors proudly serves six Texas communities.
Continuing the Legacy
Our journey is one of family, tradition, and a commitment to serving others. Today, Robertson Funeral Directors proudly carries forward the values of compassion, integrity, and care established by those who came before us. We look forward to continuing this legacy for generations to come.
