Sarah Jane Pond, 82 years old of Wheeler, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Wheeler, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Wheeler Area Church of Christ in Wheeler, Texas, with David and Shawn Zybach officiating. Interment to follow Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler. Sarah was born to William Andrew Goad and Julia May Rowe Goad on March 10, 1939. She married Doyle Earl Pond on August 21, 1958 and they were married for 60 years. Doyle was her other half; there wasn’t a day that she didn’t miss him after he passed. Sarah may have forgotten a few things as time went on, but she never forgot how much they loved each other and how they loved being together. Sarah was a member of the Wheeler Area Church of Christ. Sarah Loved the Lord and kept her faith until the end. Sarah worked at the Shamrock Family Care Clinic for 30 years and loved every moment of working with Dr. Blackketter and loving every patient which she considered a friend. She loved seeing her office kids grow up. After her retirement from the clinic, she helped out at Peppers Family Funeral Home/ Robertson Funeral Directors. Once again, she loved being there to help others and loved everyone that walked in the door. Sarah enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and watching movies about dogs and/or horses. She loved animals! One of her special friends and companions was her beloved dog, Rosie. Rosie was family and comforted Sarah. She shared Rosie with the other residents at the assisted living. Staff and residents both knew Rosie and how much Sarah loved her. Sarah’s absolute source of joy and happiness was being with her family, especially her grandsons. She cherished every moment with them and was always looking forward to the next time she was able to see them. She was also so proud of her precious namesake and great-granddaughter, Laurel Jane Ford. You never left her side without a hug and her telling you to be careful and that she loved you. If you knew Sarah, you also knew she loved her diet cokes and ice cream! The ice cream was another thing she enjoyed with her grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Dub Goad and Loyde Goad; and 1 sister, Donnie Close. Survivors include her 1 son, Mark Pond; 1 daughter, Marla Ford and husband Robert of Wheeler, TX.; 2 grandsons, Spencer Ford and wife Hallie of Gardendale, TX., and Mitchell Ford of Canyon, TX.; 1 great-granddaughter, Laurel Jane Ford of Gardendale, TX.; 1 brother, Jimmy Zack Goad and wife Mildred Ann of Albuquerque, NM.; 1 brother-in-law, Jim Pond of Amarillo, TX.; a sister in law, Maxine Pond of Arlington, TX; 1 born as a niece, raised as a sister-in-law, Cynthia Haynes; 1 special love, Rosie; several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to Lisa Mahler and the staff/extended family at the Parkview Assisted Living and all of the residents. The love and care they showed will never be forgotten and meant so much. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department, PO box 711, Wheeler, TX, 79096 Or Wheeler Cemetery, PO box 672, Wheeler, TX, 79096.
