February 27, 1940 – January 2, 2022 Max was born to Felix and Juanita Summers in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Max spent his early years in Madison, Kansas. His senior year the family relocated to Booker, Texas where he graduated from High School. Max went to college at West Texas State where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and art. He was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity and, a cadet of the ROTC program where he found his life calling of aviation. While at West Texas, he met the love of his life, Lynda Cornett. They later married on December 23rd, 1963 in Groom, Texas. Two months later he left for Vietnam where he flew Huey gunships with the 121st Aviation Company as an officer with the US Army. After serving his country with honor, Max and Lynda settled in Colleyville, Texas where they raised their two children, following his love of aviation to work and eventually retire from Bell Helicopter Textron. Max was an avid hunter and fisherman, an accomplished woodworker and artist. He loved the outdoors and could enjoy the entire day alone in nature. He loved gardening and serving others with a smile. His later years he enjoyed spending the day in his garden, canning the produce and sharing it with others. Max is survived by his wife, Lynda Summers of Quitaque, Texas. Daughter, Cindy Beard and husband Donald of Quitaque, Texas. Son, Lance Summers, and wife Kim of North Richland Hills, Texas. Sister, LaVonne Timian and husband, Vernon of Mineola, Texas. Sister, Oralena Clifford of Anchorage, Alaska. Grandchildren; Blake, Ethan and Zuri Beard. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Baptist Church, Quitaque.
