Drue Leroy "D.L." Dawkins, 84, of Claude died Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Claude. Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in the Claude Church of Christ with Shawn Johnson, officiating. Private burial will be in Claude Cemetery in Claude. Viewing will be held Monday at Robertson's in Claude. Arrangements are by Robertson Claude Chapel. D.L. was born December 20, 1937 in Amarillo to Ray and Elizabeth Hamel Dawkins. He married Edna Earl Litle on April 28, 1978 in Claude. He was a US Army veteran. He was a lifetime resident of Claude where he worked for S&S Manufacturing in Claude as a welder and later foreman prior to his retirement. He loved spending time fishing and was a member of the Claude Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on March 22, 2001; a son, Chuck Brown; and his sisters, Bettye Eads and Lossie McGuyrt. Survivors include his sons, David Brown and Joe Brown and wife Lisa all of Amarillo, and Dan Brown and wife Dee of Wichita Falls; and 6 grandchildren. The family request memorials be sent to BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
