Dannie Jean Wharton Long, 59 years old of Shamrock, TX, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 in Shamrock, TX. The family will hold a private memorial service. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Dannie was born on March 26, 1963 in Galveston, TX to the late Robert Olen Wharton and Dorothy Elaine Anderson Wharton. She spent her early childhood in Texas, later moving to Jacksonville, AR and Dearborn, MI. She moved to Shamrock, TX in 2000. Dannie married Ronnie Long on April 26, 2002 in Shamrock. She worked as a cook for many years at a nursing home and also several fast food restaurants. She was a very spiritual person who was dedicated to her faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamrock. She loved cooking, collecting things and enjoyed arts and crafts. Dannie also had a strong love for animals and had a special bond with all the cats and dogs that she cared for and loved. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her longtime friend, Ronnie Long of Shamrock, TX; 2 daughters, Stephenie Fulgenzi and husband Keegan of St. Ignace, MI and Rhonda Elliott of Lincoln Park, MI; her siblings, Michael Wharton of TN, Karen “Tina” Tipton of MI, Robert “Stephen” Wharton and wife Michelle of MI, and Frank “Aaron” Wharton of TX; her in-laws Alma and Johnny Elliott of MI; many nieces and nephews; and her very dear friend Robbie Standley.
