Billy Maurice Bybee

July 21, 1943 - August 19, 2020

Billy Maurice Bybee, 77, of Amarillo died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Amarillo. Family Directed Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo with Dr. Alberta Helton, officiating. Cremation & arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Billy was born July 21, 1943 in Childress to Benjamin and Muriel Bell Bybee. He married Joletta Lane on December 6, 1963 in Amarillo. Billy had been a resident of Amarillo since he was a young boy and was invested in the community as a member of South Georgia Baptist Church, CWA, and Pioneers. Billy retired after 35 years of service for Southwestern Bell Telephone, AT&T. He was an avid supporter of the Amarillo High School Golden Sandie band and football team. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, B.M. Bybee, J.D. Bybee, Elton Bybee, and Earl Bybee; and a sister, Mildred Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Joletta Bybee of Amarillo; two daughters, Karen Robinson and husband Barry of Amarillo, and Susan Babcock of Groom; a brother, Sam Bybee and wife Nancy of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Foster and husband Claud of Amarillo; three granddaughters, Ashley Collins and husband Alex, Bayley Robinson, and Samantha Payne and husband Tyson, all of Amarillo; three great grandsons, Oliver, Gideon, and Ronnie Payne of Amarillo; a great granddaughter, Emerson Payne of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
