Alicia Faye Berry

March 30, 1959 - March 17, 2022

Alicia Faye Berry, 62, of Memphis died Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Amarillo. Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 25, 2022 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis. Alicia Faye Berry departed this life on Thursday March 17, 2022 at BSA hospital in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 62. George Marece and Attie Mae Berry were blessed on March 30, 1959 with the arrival of a sweet and adorable baby girl, whom they cherished. She attended Memphis ISD. Alicia loved playing basketball with her two cousins Melba and Freda during her middle school and high school years. She especially loved playing against the Cyclone rivals Clarendon and Wellington. Upon graduating with of the class of 1977, she attended Clarendon Junior College and after receiving her Associates degree, transferred to The University of North Texas, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Alicia returned home to Memphis and began her teaching career. She faithfully served students, parents, and coworkers the past 40 years. Alicia loved her students, imparting knowledge to all who sought to learn. Some of her greatest passions were her love for the Lord and her church. She was a very active member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she held several positions. She loved leading praise and worship and was always eager to sing at any wedding or funeral. Alicia was very active in the community of Memphis. Like her dad, she loved helping people and served on various committees. She was a member of the City Council for several years. She organized and coached PIPS and Little Dribblers for several years. Alicia loved hanging out with family and friends. She really enjoyed playing dominos and cards. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Attie Berry. Her memory is cherished by her sister, Regina Kae Woods; brother-in-law, Gregory Joe Woods; her nephew, Joshua Marece Woods all of Amarillo, Tx.; aunt, Myrtle Faye Walker; uncle, Billy Joe Berry both of Oklahoma City, Ok.; and a host of cousins, friends, coworkers, and students.
