He was great man!
Mr. Helton was such an encourager to everyone he encountered. I remember him saying, "Cream always rises to the top" and he consistently challenged his students to set goals and do their best. The positive legacy he instilled in my life will continue to be one that urges me to be "the cream."
Thank you, Mr. Helton. I am forever richer because of you. My heart rests in believing you were welcomed into the gates of heaven, into the arms of Jesus, our gracious Savior, to hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

I have loved Mr. Helton all my life. I still think of him. I loved spending time at the Helton house and loved the whole Helton family. I even remember his spankings fondly!! Earth lost a truly special man, I'm sure jealous he's there before me. Can't wait to see him again! My sincere sorrow for the Helton family losing such a wonderful father and teacher. A REAL teacher, one that can't be matched. Thank you for caring about us all Mr Helton ❤️
I just met Thomas about a month ago and although I didn't know him very long I felt like I knew him my whole life it didn't take very long to figure out that he was a very special person you see I was looking for my dads tractor that he bought new in 81 and after some research I was able to get the serial number then my local John Deere dealer ran the number and said it now belongs to a Thomas Helton Wheeler Texas! So I called Mr Helton told him the story and his response was come see me! So I drove to Wheeler sat down with Thomas watched a western movie and we discussed the situation he said if you'll find me a replacement tractor I'll sell you your old one back which is what we did and now I have my dads old tractor back thanks to Mr Thomas Helton! The old man didn't have to do that for me but he didn't bat an eye to get it done and I will forever be thankful and will never forget a very special person Thomas Helton. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your father. Mr Helton was the kindest and most wonderful man my family had the privilege of knowing. He will be greatly missed.

There are so many great things to remember about Mr. Helton. Candidly I remember the licks I deserved from him. He was always so diplomatic about the process and I really believe he hated doing it but it was necessary in all of our opinons. He wielded the board hard enough to make you squirm but not hard enough to bruise. I loved the man as a friend and it was always great to see him because he made me feel like it was always great to see me. A true Christian that I can only strive to be like. Thanks for the memories Mr. Helton.
Mr. Helton always had a way of making you feel like you were his favorite. He was an amazing man whom I will miss dearly and think of often. I feel fortunate to have many memories of him flooding my mind...and they make me smile. -Kristi Petit
