I learned of Gary's death this afternoon while reading of Ida's passing. My condolences and my prayers are with you during this time. Gary, through his work with El Paso, was a customer of mine. During that time, he came across a litter of pups in a ditch near East Main in Farmington. Someone had abandoned the litter shortly after their birth. He found homes for each pup and approached me, at work, about the last - a male. He wasn't going to quit until he had placed the entire litter. We took that last pup and had him until we moved from Farmington. He was then given to friends who lived in the country - much better for a large dog than our intown fenced backyard. We always said that our dog was half German Shepherd and half from a good neighborhood. When we received that tiny pup, he was smaller than our good friend'so Pomeranian. The first week, the Pomeranian had a smaller dog to play with and really took charge. The following week, our pup had grown enough that they were able to play well together. The third get-together made it obvious that our pup was too large and strong to ever play with the Pomeranian again. Thanks to Gary Gandy, I have been able to relate that story several times over the years.
