GRAPEVINE / McLEAN

GRAVESIDE SERVICES- 11:00 am Friday, January 25, 2013 in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes, officiating.

INTERMENT- Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean.

Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean.

Dorris was born Dec.11, 1924, in a house built by her grandfather in McLean, Texas. Her parents, Levi and Faye Wilson, were descendants from pioneer Texas families. She married E.J. Windom, Jr. in Jan.30, 1942 in the Presbyterian Manse in McLean. They made their first home in Dalhart, Texas, where “Jr.” was stationed with the Air Force. He was shipped out to England in August of 1943 where he spent 33 months, returning to the US and McLean in 1945.

In McLean, Dorris and Jr. owned Windom’s Auto Service and Windom’s Auto Parts. They were in business on historic Route 66 for over 60 years. They were inducted into the Route 66 Hall of Fame, in 1995. They lived and raised their family in the house which Dorris was born. They loved golf, church, singing, dancing, traveling foreign countries, their many friends; but most of all, they loved their family. Jr., passed away in 2006 and Dorris moved to the Dallas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the age of 88.

SURVIVORS - three sons and spouses: Clyde Allen and Ann Windom of Quitman, Texas; Eddy Jay and Barbara Windom of Grapevine, Texas; Patrick Wilson and Trisha Windom of Boerne, Texas.; Six Grand Children and spouses: Wade Allen of Austin, Texas, Misty and Brad Westveld of Plano, Texas, Eric and Stacey Windom of Frisco, Texas, Jared and Leah Windom of Colleyville, Texas, Tyler and Andrea Windom of Grapevine, Texas, Amy and Joe Etheridge of Cat Springs, Texas; 10 Great Grandchildren: Ashley, Jackson, Barrett, Branch, Carys, J.D., Reid, Grant, Piper and Windom.
